Netwerk Democratie’s E-dem project, in collaboration with Waag Society and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Kingdom Relations, won second price during the Internet Society (ISOC) Innovation Award 2018!
The ISOC.nl Innovation Award is an initiative of the Internet Society Netherlands association of internet professionals to award and acknowledge the work of innovative internet related initiatives. These innovations entail a further development on and growth of knowledge of the internet. The award is handed out to persons, organisations, or initiatives and is a sign of great societal appreciation for activities that aim to improve the internet and its usability.
About E-Dem
E-dem works on developing digital opportunities and instruments for democracy. For this project, three open source participation tools – Your Priorities, Consul and Stem Van – were translated and made available on www.e-dem.nl. The additional publication ‘Guide for Digital Democracy’ provides examples of use-cases, and a step-by-step instruction to implement digital tools within a participation proces. With this project, Netwerk Democratie aims to support Dutch local governments to improve their responsiveness towards citizens. Many Dutch municipalities are starting to use and explore digital democracy. E-dem aims to support this development by bringing together and sharing knowledge and experience from the Netherlands as well as other countries.
The E-dem website and guidebook were recently launched at the Day of Local Democracy, on 17th of November 2017.
