115 maatschappelijke organisaties waaronder Netwerk Democratie en European Digital Rights (EDRi), roepen de EU op om grondrechten centraal te stellen in de Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA).
Op 30 november werd een gezamenlijke verklaring naar buiten gebracht. De verklaring doet aanbevelingen aan het Europese Parlement en Raad van de Europese Unie om het AIA-voorstel van de Europese Commissie op meerdere punten te amenderen. De ondertekenaars pleiten voor:
• Een samenhangende, flexibele en toekomstbestendige manier om met risico’s van van AI-systemen om te gaan.
• Verbod op alle AI-systemen die een onaanvaardbaar risico vormen voor onze grondrechten.
• Verplichtingen van gebruikers van (d.w.z. degenen die AI-systemen met een hoog risico inzetten) om verantwoording af te leggen aan degenen die door AI-systemen worden getroffen
• Consistente en zinvolle transparantie, bijvoorbeeld door een verplicht AI register.
• Duidelijke rechten en de mogelijkheid om verhaal te halen voor mensen die worden beïnvloed door AI-systemen.
• Inachtneming van duurzaamheid en milieubescherming bij het ontwikkelen en gebruiken van AI-systemen
• Verbeterde en toekomstbestendige standaarden voor AI-systemen
