Crowdsourcing Legislation: Taking Decisions With Citizens and not For Them.
On 27 February, ECAS (European Citizen Action Service) organises the Digital Democracy Day 2018 Brussels, in the framework of the wrap-up of the longterm EUCROWD project, under the Europe for Citizens programme of the European Commission. The EUCROWD project, which Netwerk Democratie participates in, is dedicated to bringing together existing knowledge in Europe on practices of e-participation/crowdsourcing in democratic processes. All 7 participating European countries organised a conference in their own country. Netwerk Democratie organised the Dutch edition in Amsterdam, on 14-15 March at Pakhuis de Zwijger.
The Digital Democracy Day will centre on the key issue of how to encourage democratic engagement. Several national case studies will be explored, and a framework for an EU level pilot of crowdsourcing on the ‘Future of Europe’ will be established.
The event will give an overview of international crowdsourcing practices, conclusions from the conferences in Europe organised by the 7 project partners, and recommendations on the most suitable policies to be crowdsourced at EU level and the most appropriate e-participation tools to be used.
The conference will feature two panels of experts, divided in to the following topics:
– Let’s Crowdsource! – Lessons Learned from Citizens at the National level
– Building Our Future Together! – Towards a Crowdsourcing Pilot at the EU Level
